Okay, so I render my video with a 2:3:3:2 pulldown, and blend the fields with gaussian blur in Vegas. This seems to work great, when I watch the rendered video on the computer. It looks a little interlaced, but I figure that has to do with the maonitor. If I were to print this video to tape and watch it on the t.v., it looks wonderful! However if I burn it to DVD with Sony DVD Architect, it looks even more interlaced than on the monitor!

I burn the movie with 3223 pulldown as well.

I am assuming that doing this causes the already "pulled down" fields to get pulled down a second time, and thus giving me theinterlacing artifacts. At least I think so, that's the first part of the question.

The second part is, if in fact I DO want to make sure that the "pull down" is only performed once, which is better? Pulling down in the editor and burning uncompressed, or rendering interlaced, and doing the pulldown when I burn it? Or are they the same? Thanks.

Why are you pulling down NTSC video to begin with???

I need more details as to why you are doing what you are doing--Or at least why you think it is logical.

    Good Luck

Even though it's NTSC, It's badly interlaced. Anytime I slow down the footage I can see the interlacing, even on the T.V. and I don't like it. Not only does it make anything look like a joke, it's just plain tacky. It's comparable to a Police Officer wearing a "I'm with Stupid" shirt. Any benefit of the doubt authority is lost.

So with the gaussian blur bleniding the fields, it looks better regardless of how slow the footage is... that's why.

    Thanks.

Welcome to the world of video...

You can't slow down or speed up video with out it looking like shit. As to how to avoid interlace artifacts when slowing down have you tried making each frame a .png or tiff and then linking all those together in sequence??

    Good Luck
